LAKE WISSOTA STATE PARK

Trip made in: September

STATE PARK RATING: LAKE WISSOTA STATE PARK

***

Topography and Geology of area-

Quartzite cliffs that are extremely steep, seemingly flat with evergreen trees.
Prairies, lake, woods, and extensive shoreline.

Common activities:

Hiking, picnicking, boating, and snowshoeing.

There were a lot of similarities with this park and others closer to the Madison area. Due to the fact that this park was so far north the leaves had already been changing colors for a couple of weeks where in Madison they had not.

As I mentioned very steep walkways to the water and I would not recommend even walking down them as I don't know how you would get back up on the top.

More of the shore and the trees lining the water's edge.

This is part of lake wissota's conservation area that we had visited that explains what work is being done on the shoreline.

You can see the other side of the lake and get a better idea of how big the lake is.

Here we are trying to figure out how to get out of this park.

Yes they even had a baseball field!
