KOHLER-ANDRAE STATE PARKS

This is one of the first pictures we took when arriving at this park as it was a naturally air conditioned park.

Trip made in: June

STATE PARK RATING: KOHLER-ANDRAE STATE PARKS

*****

Topography and Geology of area-

Pine and hardwood forest, beach, sand dunes, river, cordwalk and Lake Michigan.

Remnant beachline of an ancient glacial lake still visible in the northwest corner of the park.

Miles of quiet beach.

Common activities:

Camping, fishing, boating, hiking, swimming, naturalist programs, bicycling, horse trails, volunteers, concessions, and picnicking.

Here is a better view of lake michigan.

Here we are traveling on the cordwalk which is over a mile long.

Here are one of the amazing views off of the cordwalk.

This is the blowing sand of the beach.

I was abducted by another on this day.

The park is different to other beach dwelling places as it has a cordwalk which takes you a mile from the main beach to walk to the nature center depending on where you originate it could be a shorter walk. There seems to be a great deal of privacy when walking on the beach and that is something I really enjoyed.
